Michela Carlana

Michela Carlana is Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and a Visiting Associate Professor of Economics at Bocconi University. Michela is the director of INSPIRE and LEAP.

She received her PhD in Economics from Bocconi University in 2018 and she was a PODER research fellow at IIES (Stockholm University) in 2016-17. Michela is affiliated with the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy, the Women in Public Policy Program, and the Center for International Development. She is also a Faculty Research Fellow of the NBER, Faculty Affiliate of J-PAL, IGIER-Bocconi and a Research Affiliate of IZA, CESifo, and CEPR. 

Her work is on topics related to inequality and education, with a focus on immigration and gender issues. Michela examines the role of teacher stereotypes in affecting performance and educational choices of students.
